Why apartment buildings don't make any sense

Today, my water was cut off from about 9am-now (still awaiting its return) while work was being done on the pipes. No, this isn't going to be a rant, although it might have been had I not ventured out to get more water, mostly for my coffee fix...without which I am left sadly in withdrawals from its caffeine filled wonder.

Instead, this lack of water made me start thinking more about how ridiculous my living situation here truly is. I live on the 13th floor of a huge apartment building, which is weird enough on its own (I spend many days 13 floors above the ground... in the air).

I have no access to resources needed for my survival except through man-made pipes or my car. There is no water source nearby nor are there any fields. I can't grow my own food. DC doesn't have much space for that, and certainly not enough to actually support the population.

In sum, I live over 140 feet (42.7 meters) in a box, which is stacked on other boxes where other people live. But I never have to interact with these people. I can appreciate fresh air from my porch without having to speak with anyone else.

In other news, I finally watched "Angels in America" and would highly recommend it. The themes of the miniseries deal with issues still relevant to America today, such as faith, religion, homosexuality, forgiveness, love, and compassion... among others.

Thus, 2012 has been a pretty good year so far. I love being on break, but I am excited to start class again soon. Here are some photos from my recent wanderings...

Went to the National Portrait Gallery and walked around that area... really nice.

Went to church at the National Cathedral. Also took communion there, it was grand and majestic and beautiful.

Then it snowed all day Monday... but none of it stuck. Thank goodness, otherwise it would have ruined my Bachelor Monday viewing party with Amy, Stephanie, Kelly, and Pam.

I also got a 72 point word on Words with Friends!!!! I was pretty pumped... although Susan and my stepdad are still kicking my butt. Sorry Jeff. :)

So, all in all, pretty content these days. :) Wishing you all the best!
