Here is an article from the Bangkok Post. Keep in mind that, as a newspaper in Bangkok, its perspective is based in the mentality of entrenched hierarchy and maintenance of the status quo. If I can get the history lecture notes from Dave, director of CIEE, I will try to post them here. It will give a much more in depth analysis as to why Thailand is the way it is.
For here, just know that there is a lot of tension (and has been for a long long time) between the ruling elite in Bangkok and the rural North and Northeast, which don't have the same voice in government.
This article is about a recent move to dissolve the ruling party due to campaign money mismanagement. We'll see what happens!
